Trouver le chemin du domaine
The Preserve is a working place of practice and contemplation. We welcome visitors who come with intention — for a workshop, a retreat, a walk on the land, or simply to see what is here.
Le Domaine / 場所 Basho
A place apart — and not so far
The Preserve sits in the Burgundy countryside, forty minutes south of Dijon, at the end of a lane that the maps do not always find. We are not difficult to reach — but the approach itself is part of the experience. The road narrows, the trees close in, and then the stone walls of the farmhouse appear. You have arrived.

What you will find here
The Stone Barn
La Grange en Pierre
The restored 18th-century barn is our main practice space — a high-ceilinged room of exposed stone and oak beams, used for yoga, tai-chi, and large workshops. It holds up to thirty people in comfort.
The Tea Room
La Salle du Thé
A small, low-ceilinged room in the farmhouse, furnished in the Japanese manner with tatami mats and a tokonoma alcove. Used exclusively for the tea ceremony and small meditation sessions. Maximum eight people.
The Walled Garden
Le Jardin Clos
A one-hectare walled garden of mixed French and Japanese inspiration — gravel paths, clipped hedges, a small pond, and a bamboo grove. Open to all visitors during daylight hours.
The Meadows
Les Prairies
Forty hectares of meadow, woodland, and ancient orchard surrounding the farmhouse. Walking paths are marked; the full circuit takes approximately ninety minutes at a contemplative pace.
The Guest House
La Maison d'Hôtes
Three guest rooms in the restored farmhouse, available to retreat participants and members. Simple, beautiful, and very quiet. Meals prepared from the kitchen garden are available on request.
The Calligraphy Studio
L'Atelier de Calligraphie
A north-facing studio with long worktables and natural light, used for shodō and origami workshops. Brushes, ink, and washi paper are provided; the room smells of ink and cedar.
